Hi all! Am I ever glad I found this forum. I am, as of today, the proud owner of a new SSK 300 Whisper AR-15. It took several weeks, but it was worth the wait. SSK builds a first class firearm, and I'm not an easy person to impress. I've got a reloading question for you folks. I've got some Sierra 220 gr. RN that I'd like to load. Anyone have any luck with these? I'm using 10.3 of AA1680. My real question would be about the OAL of a cartridge using the 220 gr RN. Should I start at the max OAL for a .223 AR-15 mag (2.260) and do the ol candle carbon test to check for evidence of lands? Some data I've found indicates that 2.245 would be the max OAL for this load. Anyone have any lengths for this particular load?

there are several sierra 220 pro-hunter round nose loads listed at http://www.reloadersnest.com/frontpage.asp?CaliberID=135

the only round nose bullets I have tried in 220 grain are the Hawk (8.5grains H110, 1.665 measured at the ogive, Federal 205 primer, 1080fps) pretty soft bullet...accuracy was ok, not near as good as the matchkings or gamekings...
