I have a mini 14 in 300 whisper. I got the gun from some one that could not get it to work. The rifle does fires and the action cycles ½ way. It will not load the 300 whisper round out of the 223 clip. The bullet jams in the action like it is not loading straight. The action cycles 1/2 way open when fired. Has any one made a mini 14 work in 300 whisper? Can any one point me in the right direction?

Greetings,
My first post here but I have been watching for some time. I'm surprised there has been no replies yet. I live in CA where "black" rifles are bad and are pretty much banned. I was behind the curve so I grabbed a Mini-14 before they outlawed those too. Well, my 12ga shotgun patterns better than the Mini-14 so I thought I would send it off to Accuracy Systems Inc. in SC for a total make over. Basically you throw the entire gun away except the action then rebuild it from there. Not abnormal for a custom rifle. Anyway, 300 Whisper was my caliber of choice so I am curious to find out what the solution to your feeding problem is. This was the first post on the Mini-14 I have since I have been visiting this site so I guess it's not a popular choice. None the less, I have one and think it would be a great project. Best of luck.

"Mini 14 in .300 Whisper"? Don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure that's what is is chambered in? You sure it's not a Mini 30 Ranch Rifle in 7.62x39...? This might explain some of your probs...

The gun has been re-barreled and it has been stamped with 300/221. I found a adjustable gas block for it i think this will slove my problem and a heard a mini 30 mag will feed the bullet right into the chamber with no problems.

Mini 14 mags should work, as the donor/parent case of the .300 Fireball is a .223. I wouldn't think that the rimmed 7.62x39 mags for the mini 30 would function very well.
From listening to others who utilise the mini 14, if you don't already, I'd recomend the original Ruger 20 rounders. From what I hear they seem to feed/function better than any aftermarket ones.
