Hey everybody,

Just tried a new powder in my 25-06 and I was amazed. Lots of folks say that retumbo is to slow for the 25-06 but it was awesome in mine.

Great accuracy and velocities. My 25-06, an old 700 ADL that I bought in 1979 has over 3000 rds thru it, generally doesn't get that good of velocities, usually about 200 fps slower than book velocities.

I loaded up 117 Hornady BTSP's, 115 Partitions and 115 Ballistic Tips. I got between 3100 and 3200 fps with all of them.

The partitions went into 1/2"@100 yds, the 117's went into 3/4"@100 yds and the ballistic tips went into 1.5"@200 yds.

My best loads ended up .5 grains to 1.5 grains hotter than the Hogdon data, seems to burn best when it wa lightly compressed, no pressure signs but approach the top loads with caution as always.

I've been using Retumbo in my 25-06 for several years now. I tried lots of different powders but nothing else gave the consistent accuracy. It's a super choice, even with 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. I know a few others who have tried it on my recommendaton with equally pleasing results. FWIW - H-4831 is a great powder for 87 grain bullets in the 25-06.

I have just finished working up some loads for my 25/06 Encore pistol. The slow burners are also great in short barrels. I have been using the 115 Nosler BT over RL-25 with great results. I will have to give Retumbo a try.
