I got one from Thompson's custom shop (Fox Ridge Outfitters) last fall. It is my wife's deer rifle.

SSK has barrels as well. They have a faster twist than the TC / Fox Ridge barrels, so you can shoot heavier bullets. That being said, mine still seems to be more accurate with bullets in the 150 gr. range.

I bought a second 300Whisper barrel for my Contender from MidwayUSA.com several months back. It was on sale for a little over $210. It surprised the heck out of me when I tried shooting subsonic 220gr lead and jacketed bullets in it. It stabalizes them for some reason and I get sub MOA groups at 100 yards. I checked the twist with a cleaning rod and it is a 1:10 twist just like I though it was supposed to be. Every other time I've tried shooting heavy subsonics in my 1:10 twist Remington barrels, the did not stabalize at all. I never would have bet money on this result.

It's not uncommon for twist rates to vary +/- 1/2" in "production grade" barrels so a 1:10" twist can run anywhere from 1:9.5" to 1:10.5"
That's why you may buy two barrels of 1:10" twist and one works better with heavier bullets that the other one does.
