I know its not a 300 Whisper but I had to show somebody. I call it the 50 EBG.
The cartridge is in front of the bag the riffel is sitting on. It is a 458 SOCOM necked up to 50 caliber, built on a long Savage with what should be a 3 shot magazine.Still needing to taper the barrel, and a few other things but its coming along. It should easily reach 1040fps.

Pretty cool, and fairly mean looking with an unturned barrel.

Seeing the above weapon and cartridge, along with others such as the .511 Phalanx (is that right?) and the .510 Whisper and .50 Peacekeeper from SSK... Well, they've got me thinking. I've got a .50 Beowulf AR, and I wondering if I could load it subsonic. Maybe cut the cartridge case down some and seat a longer spire point round and still make a tolerable o.a.l. that would cycle through the weapon. Just musing right now about this, not actually going to try it, yet...

What casehead does the socom use?

I believe the Beowulf headspaces on the case mouth though, so that would be out of the question.

Socom case head fits .308 (.473) family cartridges. Cases available from Starline and Midway.
