Hi gents.
Just got this my first M9 - if thats what it is.
From the info on this forum, the font and text looks like a three-line M9 3rd generation.
BUT then there is the USMC logo on the opposite side of the blade and the eagle-over-globe-and-fouled-anchor on the scabbard. On the scabbard, it also says SEMPER FI and KILL OR BE KILLED (!).
Again, from reading the excellent info here, I understand, that there was a very small batch of USMC M9s. But those are of coourse marked differently than this example.
Can anybody please tell me, if this is the real deal, a commercial offspring, fake or.....?
Thanks in advance.

About the logo, " Civilian-made ", after the "service" by probably, our friend NumberoneGi (on ebay).

So if I understand correctly, this is a 'made for the military' decent M9, which has been 'pimped' by someone after it hit the civilian market, as my M9 is not marked 188 as per the info in your link?

You dont have to break it to me gently:grin: Im not a collector and just wanted a real M9, as I never had one (have a bunch of K98 bayos, but no M9 until now).

Your M9 is a real military model... but, the USMC markings on the blade and scabbard NO. These LAZER ENGRAVING are an NumberonGi or other seller, MADE.

The 188 marking was for the "civilian-market".

Thanks, that how I understood it then.

I guess, the USMC markings was why I got it cheaply. I dont mind, as I didnt by it for the logo.

The bayonet has obviously been used....or rather the scabbard and handle shows obvious signs of wear, but fortunately the blade is fine. It has the usual drag marks from being drawn from the scabbard numerous times, but the blade doesnt even have a single nick anywhere. In fact, it looks like it has never even been used let alone sharpened (not that all bayonets are supposed to be sharpened).

Yep, that would be the one to have!

Problem with buying a ratty blade and joining a forum in order to gain more knowledge...., is that sometimes you actually learn something new!!!

(carp, now I want a genuine USMC M9! - I blame you!!)

Thanks for all the great info.
