I am thinking of just getting Pac-Nor to build me a custom barrel for my AR. Where should the gas port be, and what diameter should it be? Any other tips?
Thanks,
Brian Morton

I believe pac nor makes blanks. I have used them. They don't make custom barrels. Gunsmiths and barrel makers do that. As far as specs go. That's your
decision. I make custom ar-15 barrels according to the customers spec. How long.how wide, how fat. Twist rate? Need more info on what your trying to do with it. regards.

I typed in 'gas port' into the search engine on this forum, here's what I got:

I've read all of the posts on 'gas port' and the best that I can conclude is that the 'pistol location' is preferred.

Let us know how the barrel from Pac-Nor works out for you. They should be able to place the gas port anywhere you request and mount an adjustable gas block for you.

Why not just have John Noveske build you one. He uses Pac-Nor barrels on most of his builds and he is one of the best. John used to work for Pac-Nor so he knows is way around them very well. Here is a link to his site.

PacNor is what I am going to use. I ordered a ~14" blank, 3 grove, 6.5 twist, SS super match. It will be cut down to ~11-12". If you order one of the shorter blanks you get a heck of a price break.

A little different animal, but I'm using a 6.5 twist PacNor on my CZ527 bolt gun in .300 Whisper and have been very well pleased with it.
