Hello, I have a Lan Cay M9 that came with a letter from Lan Cay stating that this is a prototype for the USMC to evaluate.

The lettering on the blade says.......
M9
Lan - Cay
USA

The opposite side of the blade has the USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor either engraved or laser engraved since there is no raised metal around the edges of the symbol. The scabbard has no stone in it but has the metal for the wire cutter. The pommel end of it has LAN - CAY lettered into it as well.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Lan-Cay did submit bayonets to the USMC for testing and evaluation. They were marked on the right ricasso with the Eagle, Globe & Anchor. The USMC emblem is stamped into the blade prior to heat treating, it is not engraved. The left ricasso is marked USMC over Lan-Cay. They were not marked M9.

These bayonets were submitted in black and tan. They were not submitted in OD. The bayonet is equipped with the later ergonomic grip and the scabbard has the MOLLE webbing on it.

Lan-Cay also made a fair number of bayonets with the M9 markings you describe on the left ricasso with a variety of emblems on the right ricasso. You blade sounds more like one of these to me. You can see the different variations of emblems at Lan-Cay's website.

I need to get some pics of it I guess, this one is in green and does not have USMC, just the eagle globe and anchor and the text opposite of it.
