dear all, i am in Australia and new to M9 bayonet. I am buying my 1st M9 soon and I need help on what to buy. I need a m9 to use for camping needs and I want to buy a USA made M9 ( not interested in chinese/taiwanese copies). I prefer a current issue and not sure wether to go for an Ontario made or Lan-Cay made M9. I have done a little research myself and still little confused: what is the difference between a commercial and military M9?
i understand that the current M9s are produced by either Ontario or Lan-Cay,
which one is a better buy?i want a genuine military issue M9. here is a link to the australian ebay offering a M9:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&item=160029251025&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
is anyone able to tell me if this one is a genuine US military issue M9?
Also, is it legal to send m9 to australia if I pruchased a M9 from USA?
any help will be much appreciated!!

The bayonet shown in your link is not a US military issue piece. The US miltary M9 bayonets are all OD, they are not black. Special Ops story is a bunch of bull. And if they are currently going for $350 I'd like to sell a few dozen.

Lan-Cay and Ontario M9 bayonets are virtually identical. As far as military vs. commercial, there is no way to distinguish between the two. They are identical, taken from the same production line. The only way to know that you have a genuine military issue piece is if you were to get it from someone in the military, and even then you have to take his word for it. There is no way to tell from looking at the bayonet.

Hi,
I just recently bought a clone M9 . It is stainless steel covered with black coating. Other than bragging rights what is the real difference between it and the issue bayonet?
