Just a quick question;
I have a Lan-Cay M9, purchased shortly before they went belly up last year, and would like to know, what can I do to completely spruce it up?
1: Have already had it professionally sharpened by Knife Doctor (Although I've heard M9s don't hold an edge very well or sharpen well, this guy certainly did an impressive job, as this one is razor sharp)
2: Have secured a brand new Sharpening stone that fits the stone outline on the back of the scabbard, however being one of their final models, there's no actual slot or indent to set the stone into on the scabbard as seen on some other models. Can anyone suggest the best adhesive to use to attach this securely to the rear of the scabbard?
What I mean is, what kinds of accessories/scabbard accessories can be added to it? If they were still available, I'd grab an M11 EOD utility pouch, but I've stuck with one of the standard "M9 beretta magazine (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Australian-Buck-M9-Bayonet-Scabbard-Pouch-DPDU-DPCU-RAR-SASR-Multicam-/200805390414?pt=AU_Militaria&hash=item2ec0ef184e)" sized pouches found on ebay and am tempted to get one so I can put a small Led Lenser in it or something and use the M9 as my outback/bushcraft/camping blade.
I was also toying with the idea of getting an M7 (Whilst I realize the M7 isn't discussed in this thread, is anyone able to tell me, is the coating on the new Ontario M7 bayonets poisonous?) I ask because I'd like to use my bushcraft knife like a true hobo, and use it for everything, including cutting my food (after being sanitized of course) but it has a Zinc phosphate finish and I don't want to get some kind of poisoning from it.
